Frequently Asked Questions
Ultraflow Engineering is a precision machining and fabrication workshop in Tuas, Singapore, established in 2010. We turn, mill, weld and laser-cut components for the marine and offshore, oil and gas, working vessel and renewable energy industries; from single replacement pins to production batches of custom parts built to your drawings.
A medium-sized job typically takes two to three weeks. Urgent single parts can often be turned around overnight or on the same day when the material is in stock, while large multi-part projects run to a few months. Lead time depends mainly on material availability and whether the part needs a subcontracted operation such as grinding or heat treatment, so tell us your required date when you send the drawing and we will confirm against it.
We turn components up to roughly 1180mm in diameter and 3000mm between centres, and mill parts up to about 1375mm on the longest axis. Anything larger we arrange through our subcontract partners, so a mixed job does not need to be split between two suppliers.
We routinely machine carbon and structural steels, stainless steel (particularly SS-316 and 316L), aluminium, aluminium bronze, and engineering plastics including cast nylon, MOS2-filled cast nylon, nylon 6/6 and HDPE-300. Wear pads, thrust washers and bushes in nylon and bronze are a regular part of our work alongside steel pins and shafts.
We hold ISO fits such as h9, H8 and d8 directly off our CNC lathes and machining centres. Tighter fits - h6, g6, f6 and H7 - are achieved with a cylindrical or surface grinding operation, which we arrange and manage as part of the job rather than leaving you to coordinate it.
There is no minimum order quantity - we machine single replacement parts to your needs. The unit price on a one-off is higher because setup time is carried by a single piece, so if you expect to need spares it is usually worth quoting a small batch at the same time.
Heat treatment, plating, cylindrical grinding, gear cutting and gun drilling are subcontracted to qualified partners and coordinated by us, so you deal with one supplier for the finished part. Everything else is in-house: CNC and manual turning, milling, boring, drilling, threading and tapping, grease-hole drilling, MIG and TIG welding, laser profiling and gas cutting, with 10-tonne and 16-tonne overhead cranes for heavy handling.
Send a dimensioned drawing including the revision letter, the material, the quantity, and any tolerance, surface finish or treatment requirements. If you do not have a drawing, a photograph of the part with its key dimensions is usually enough for us to give an indicative price. Email desheng@ultraflow.com.sg or call (65) 6862 3768.
Ultraflow Engineering holds ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, and bizSAFE Star, the highest tier of Singapore's workplace safety programme. Our welding is covered by qualified procedures for FCAW and GTAW on S355J2G3 and EH36 structural grades and TIG on SS316L.
We reverse-engineer components from a worn or damaged sample when the original drawings are unavailable, measuring the part and producing a drawing before machining the replacement. We also repair rather than replace where it is viable - building up worn surfaces by welding and re-machining to the original dimensions is often faster and cheaper than a new part.
Our workshop is at No. 9 Tuas Avenue 9, Singapore 639198, in the western industrial district close to Tuas Crescent MRT Station. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 8am to 3pm. We sought to remain contactable 24/7 for your urgent requests.
Ultraflow Engineering has been machining and fabricating components in Singapore since 2010. The company is registered under UEN 201016595C and operates from its own workshop at No. 9 Tuas Avenue 9, supplying the marine and offshore, oil and gas, working vessel and renewable energy industries.
We export finished components overseas and regularly work to drawings issued by clients abroad. Tell us the destination when you request a quote so we can factor shipping and documentation into the price.
